I should have kept my mouth shut.
I should have let them win.
Now the kings of the school are out for my blood,
… and they’re not the only ones.

The fire took everything.
My parents. My best friend. My life.

Now I have a second chance.
I only have to endure one year at this prestigious academy for rich snobs.
One year of being the charity case no one wanted.
One year of taunts and insults and bullying. Then I’m free.

But I didn’t count on Trey, Ayaz, and Quinn.
Arrogant, privileged, dangerous.
Drop-dead fucking gorgeous.
They want me gone.
They want me to suffer.
They’re determined to make my nightmares real.

Tough luck, bully boys – I won’t hide away.
I’m not afraid.
But maybe… I should be.

HP Lovecraft meets Cruel Intentions in this dark paranormal reverse harem bully romance. Warning: Not for the faint of heart – this story of three broken bad boys and the girl who stood her ground contains dark themes, crazed cultists, books bound in human skin, high-school drama, swoon-worthy sex, and potential triggers.

The book begins with us learning about Hazel and the horrible things she has had to endure in her short life. After being tracked down and offered a scholarship at a very prestigious school, she accepts. She finds out the students and faculty there are not very welcoming.

There are a few things I like in particular about this book. Hazel was strong. She stood up for what she believed in and didn’t let others tell her how to behave. She has a backbone and that is always a great quality in a heroine. The ending took me by surprise. I still don’t know if this book is a paranormal book or not. I underestimated the authors ability to turn this story around for me. The beginning was a bit blah and cliche. By then end I was hooked.

The things I didn’t like about this book were the fact that it seemed like a cliche bully love story without the actual love. The book didn’t dive into Hazel’s relationships with the men any further than her attraction. It is for sure a RH YA romance.

I will be looking forward to the next book in the series since the ending left me wanting to find out more.

Signs of Cupidity: Raven Kennedy

Blurb:

You’d think that basically being in charge of love would be an epic job, right? Wrong. Sure, I can blow some Lust into people’s faces and watch the show, but I can’t actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist’s office, but I can’t get any love for myself. It totally sucks. I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, so why wouldn’t I choose to become a cupid? Sounds like a good idea, right? Wrong again. They don’t call us stupid cupids for nothing. I’m stuck in this never-ending afterlife where I’m invisible, lonely, and bitter as hell. And yeah, I’m probably responsible for some terrible matchmaking out there. Sorry, not sorry. All my bad cupid’ing might be why I was exiled from the human realm. You can only do so much before the cupid bosses get all huffy. Unfortunately, my bitterness carried over into the new realm, and then I attacked a fae prince with Love Arrows. Accidentally. Okay, not accidentally. But hey, he deserved it. What I didn’t expect was for him to retaliate and hit my ass with some crazy magic mojo strong enough to push me into the physical realm. Whoa. That’s right. This cupid just got a real body. And you know what that means…Now, it’s my turn to get some. Love, I mean. Get your head out of the gutter. Wink, wink bitches. Author’s Note: This is a medium-burn reverse harem story. It includes explicit language and sexual situations. Intended for audiences 18 years and older. As this is a series, there will be a cliffhanger.

What a wonderful find. I have been seeing this book come up in my “Kindle Recommends” page for a while now but never took the plunge.

The book begins with giving you some back story into being a Cupid and what they can do. Emelle is a great character! She was hilarious and quite possibly the worst Cupid around. Her overall dialog kept me laughing to the point I could have pee’d myself (which I know isn’t too hard nowadays since having a child).

The book continues on to how she meets the three male fae. They are different in every way. Each one provides a different personality that carries the book along.

Although there was no sex, there were plenty of sexual innuendos that were steamy. I can’t wait to dive into the next book and see what awaits Emelle and her three fine fae.

The Bet: J.L. Beck & C. Hallman

“He was my best friend…” I say more to myself than her.
“Yeah, so was I but you seem to have forgotten that part of your life.”

The bet was simple.
You draw a name from the hat.
That’s the girl you have to seduce.
The girl you have to make fall head over heels in love with you.

It wasn’t hard for me to do, in fact it was something I did all the time. I was known for breaking hearts. Sex was just that, sex. And it didn’t take me very long to get a woman on her back.

And then I drew her name: Jules Peterson.

My former best friend. My first kiss. My first love. She shattered my heart into a million pieces three years ago. She left me right when I needed her most.

And as fate who have it, she had entered my life once again, at almost the perfect time.

She was a transfer, fresh meat, and she had just put a target on her back. It was my turn to make her pay. It was my turn to break her heart.

Holding onto that hate, that anger, that f*cking heartbreak. It does something to you. It breaks you, and it broke me, it tainted me, just like I would do to Jules.

She used to be my everything, but now she was nothing but The Bet.

**This is book one in the North Woods University Series. It can be read as a complete standalone and contains NO cliffhanger, NO cheating, and an HEA. Please be advised this series contains material not suitable for all readers. This is NOT a YA series.**

“Attempted Rape” that should have been the title for this book because although it was a love story in the end, most of the story centered around attempted rape. It was a pretty hard read because I just couldn’t understand the MC. She allowed him to do some horrible things to her but continued to see the good in him. I would not have been able to overlook that. I would much rather see a book about the brothers than anyone else.

Seb was the redeeming factor for this book. He was kind and stood up for her when his own brother was the one to cause her such hurt. The fact he was able to take her side over his shows what a great person he is.

I don’t think I will continue on because although I am used to dark themed books and bully books this book pushed a little too hard at my boundaries.

A Bit About Me

Thanks for joining me!

So since I’m new to this whole blogging thing, bare with me. My name is Rachel. When I’m not reading, I am chasing around a 3 year old and taking care of animals as a Veterinary Technician. I started intently reading in the beginning of 2018 and have taken off since. While I mostly read romance, I’ll occasionally take a break to read something funny. I don’t hold back in my reviews. If I didn’t like the book or felt there was a heavy theme in it, I will tell you.

I am married to the love of my life Colby (he likes non-fiction). We have our own romance novel of sorts. We met in 6th grade and became fast best friends. From then on it was a back and forth of wanting to be with each other but it was never the right time. Colby was the best friend that would kick my boyfriends ass if they weren’t treating me right. By high school I finally got my head out of my ass and decided we should give it a try. I went to his house, sat down and told him I wanted to give us a try. He was eating Taco Bell at the time and looked at me like I was crazy. Turns out he just didn’t understand what I was saying to him. By the time he realized that I said I wanted to start a relationship with him, he jumped up from his bed, ran to the bathroom to brush his teeth, then came back and kissed me. We married in 2014 and now have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a child. To say we have our hands full is an understatement.

I hope you enjoy my reviews and they push you to either read a book or say “no way is this book for me”.

Happy Reading!!!
