Blurb:
Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.
Luna Rexroth is everyoneβs favorite wallflower.
Sweet.
Caring.
Charitable.
Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wantsβnamely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyoneβs favorite football hero.
Gorgeous.
Athletic.
Rugged.
Popular.
Liar.
This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.
But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesnβt need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saintsβ golden boy, heβs forced to realize not all knights are heroes.
Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.
Broken Knight literally broke me. Letβs start with the love story. I am not always a fan of friends to lovers stories but this one was amazing. My personal love story was a friends to lovers so donβt ask me why I donβt like reading them…Iβm weird.
Knight was broken down by so many things in his life that werenβt under his control. I was torn at times with him. He was a little immature at times which caused me to be mad at him.
Luna was a whole other story. I was shocked that she gave her virginity to someone else. I understood that she thought Knight was sleeping around so it didnβt matter but that was a plot twist from Shen I did not see coming. Luna was strong in ways and weak in others. Throughout the book, you witnessed her change. She went from a recluse to speaking in the most important ways.
So although the book was about Luna and Knight the main thing that got to me was Rosie.
Little back story. This week I am going through a lot. My grandfather fell and was taken to the hospital. He is 86 years old and just done. He was given the option to continue treatment which he declined. The doctors said he has a week at most to live. His last request is to pass away at home, in the home he built and where my grandmother passed away.
Now I know most have cried while reading this book but I donβt know if another book has pushed me to my emotional limits as much as this book did. Rosies story is was exactly what I am currently going through in life. My poor husband didnβt know whether to hug me or leave me alone which is what I had asked of him.
LJ Shen broke my heart but in a good way. It was good for me to watch the characters grow from this experience and I hope I do the same in my own life.
